How Hockey Squares Work
Hockey squares pools use a 10×10 grid (100 squares). Winners are determined by the last digit of each team's goal total at the end of each period.
Scoring Mechanics
Grid Setup
A 10×10 grid with row numbers 0-9 on the left (home team) and column numbers 0-9 on top (away team).
Last Goal Digit Rule
After each period, take the last digit of each team's goal total. Row = home team's last digit, Column = away team's last digit.
Winner Determination
The square at the intersection is the winner for that period.
Example
If the score is Rangers 4, Bruins 3 after Period 1: Row = 4, Column = 3. The owner of square (4,3) wins the P1 payout.
Game Checkpoints & Payouts
Hockey pools typically have payouts at these checkpoints:
1st Period
End of first period (20 min)
2nd Period
End of second period (40 min)
Final Score
End of regulation or overtime
